The Residence Inn Phoenix Mesa offers a convenient location near Phoenix Airport and downtown, with complimentary breakfast and spacious rooms, including suites with kitchens. However, recent reviews highlight concerns regarding housekeeping inconsistencies, maintenance issues, and a troubling incident of alleged fraudulent billing.
Very nice breakfast bar. The breakfast manager is great. Elevator and laundry room were both out of service. Staff was friendly and helpful. The room was clean and nicely laid out.
Great place to stay while on business trip. From the exterior, it may look a bit dated; however, it has been completely renovated. The rooms are spacious and clean. There are several buildings and lots of free parking for guests. It’s located near other hotels, restaurants and gas stations. It took me only 15 mins from PHX airport. This is my 2nd time staying and I plan to continue to stay here while on business trips to Phx area. Muma (front desk) is so great! She is friendly, personable and so helpful. She gives off good vibes and is great at her job.
Update: The front desk staff scammed me out of $1,200. It’s been 6 weeks and still no resolution?? I prepaid for my room with 88,000 points and they charged my credit card for the cash price. They never emailed the receipt and I have no documentation! Although the complimentary breakfast bar was the best I have had at a Marriott brand, unfortunately, housekeeping screwed up and didn’t replace our towels, wash clothes, Kleenex or remove our garbage. We did everything ourselves. The housekeeping department lied and said someone was in our room. But my family was out shopping for 6 hours. Maybe this was too long of a stay! AVOID THIS PLACE??
Staying at the Residence Inn by Marriott Phoenix Mesa Hotel in Mesa, Arizona for two nights with my parents turned out to be way more enjoyable than I expected. The whole place has this warm and relaxed feeling that makes it really easy to settle in, and I noticed right away how many teenagers were staying there too. It honestly makes sense because the hotel feels comfortable in a way that teenagers would enjoy a lot, especially with all the open spaces to hang out and the fun, friendly atmosphere around the property. I was surprised by how spacious everything felt, from the lobby to the outdoor areas, and it made walking around the hotel feel calm and unrushed. Even though it was my first time staying there, I didn’t realize how much there was to appreciate until I explored a little bit. I really liked how simple it was to enjoy the stay without feeling pressured to be anywhere at a certain time. I never doubted that the experience would turn out the way I hoped it would. I’ve only stayed at this hotel once in my life before writing this review, but it ended up being one of the most comfortable and pleasant hotel experiences I’ve had in a long time.
Everything was going very well. The location was perfect and the complimentary breakfast bar was the best I have had at a Marriott brand. Unfortunately, housekeeping screened up today and didn’t replace our towels, wash clothes, Kleenex or remove our garbage. We did everything ourselves. The housekeeping department lied and said someone was in our room. But my family was out shopping for 6 hours. Maybe this was too long of a stay!
So, I extended my stay and the incompetent front desk clerk charged my card as you can see, allowing me to stay. I check out and her incompetent behind charges my card again. I had to literally get on the phone with my bank to prove to the incompetent team, which includes Wayne the Manager that my card was indeed charged twice and not done correctly. They claimed they didn't see it. How did you NOT see what you charged me just the day before? If the card had not gone through I wouldn't have been able to stay. I will be honest, it felt very racial and racist, which I have already spoken to Marriott about. Now I'm still waiting for this to go back into my account. The third charge cleared already. This is money I will not have for my family because of their sheer incompetence. It's literally going to take 7 full business days to drop. I love the Marriott brand but this location I do NOT recommend especially if you're a minority. I will go to another location when I need to stay at a hotel. This is NOT it.
This place has us spoiled! Breakfast saved us $20/day. So good and lots of choices. We thought it went to 9:30 instead of 9:00 and arrived at 9:10. Wonderful staff got us coffee although they had already taken to kitchen area. Let us fill our plates before cleaning/putting food away. Room layout is nice with swivel tv! Kitchen with utensils, bowls, etc. our next stay was at a different hotel and it was a disappointment! Will be staying here again and highly recommend!
5 Stars – Outstanding Stay! I recently stayed at the Residence Inn in Mesa, AZ, and I couldn’t be more impressed with the level of service and care provided. From check-in to check-out, everything was smooth, comfortable, and welcoming. A special thank you goes to the cleaning staff, who truly went above and beyond during my stay. Every day, my room was spotless and refreshed with thoughtful touches that made it feel like home. Their attention to detail and genuine care didn’t go unnoticed—and it made a big difference in the overall experience. It’s clear that the staff here takes pride in their work, and I deeply appreciate the effort that goes into keeping the property so clean and inviting. Thank you again to the housekeeping team—you’re amazing! I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the Mesa area. Great location, friendly staff, and exceptional cleanliness make it a top choice.
Under renovation so consider the room issues to be temporary. They simply show their age with wall knocks and dents in the fridge. Some old tear out furniture in the common areas. Much of the parking lot filled with conex boxes. The drywall crew down the hall set off the fire alarms with dust so I know that system works. I tried to cook a few meals and the pots and pans....well, just go out to eat or use the microwave. Still serving breakfast as best they can. Check in was at a rolling cart but no issues. All the employees were nice and adaptive to the situation. The location was great but I was struck by the lack of people. It had a kind of "I am legend" movie vibe. I don't regret staying here for the price.
The employees were kind and courteous, the location is good, but this hotel is in serious need of an overhaul. There was what appeared to be black mold in the toilet and we felt very sick even on our one night when we most recently stayed. The housekeeping staff seems to do they best they can, but the hotel needs to do some major renovation and take care of the mold and any other serious issues.
