Guest reviews for the Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites Phoenix - Mesa / Chandler reveal a mixed experience. While some guests praised the cleanliness, comfortable beds, and friendly staff, particularly noting a standout breakfast host (Raul), significant concerns were raised regarding noise disruptions (loud children, karaoke), outdated facilities, malfunctioning amenities (elevators, dryer), and inconsistent information from staff. Overall, the hotel appears to be showing signs of aging and needs improvements to address guest complaints.
The pool wasn’t heated and was so cold you couldn’t go in. Starting on Thursday large groups of kids sports teams checked in for the weekend. They ran up and down the hallway constantly, were loud and disruptive. They congregated in the hallway and ate food. Only one of the two elevators was working.
I would like to begin by stating that this hotel certainly meets the standards of a 3-star establishment. While "The great focal point is the resort-style pool area," the hotel would benefit from some renovations, both internally and externally, due to its somewhat uninspired appearance. Advantages: * The room was exceptionally clean. * The bed provided great comfort. * The front desk staff were very pleasant and hospitable. * The pool area was very enjoyable and tranquil, with ample lounge seating. * Parking was complimentary. * There were no bedbugs in my room. Disadvantages: * The hotel's exterior and main lobby are in need of revitalization. The main lobby, in particular, seems to be an underutilized space. * Small TV * Breakfast should be complimentary. This is not a 4- or 5-star hotel to justify charging for a mediocre breakfast, especially when it is offered for free at other Holiday Inn locations. * The hallways are dimly lit; improved decor and lighting would be beneficial. * One elevator remains out of service, and new ones are required. In conclusion, this is a pleasant and respectable hotel for a stay. The photographs I have provided showcase my room, which was a KING WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE ROOM and a view of the pool area, which was remarkably quiet and situated away from I-60, should this information assist you in selecting a room. This a place that I most definitely came come back to!
Unfortunately, we were placed on the 6th floor and they decided to have karaoke on the 7th floor. The music was so loud we literally could feel it when laying in bed and our doors and pictures were rattling. Upon arrival we were not informed of this "event" that would be happening on our ceiling. Chii, the only front desk worker, informed us around 7 or 8pm she just learned it was happening and its normally in the restaurant. She said she was the only one working, management was not there even the the hotel was fully booked (so we couldn't move rooms), and Chii wasn't sure when they would close down, but estimated around 10 when I called the first time. I asked if we could leave and get a refund around 10pm as the party was still going strong. Chi said maybe a partial but she couldnt authorize it and her manager wasn't available. Music stopped around 10:15 and the party wrapped up (a lot of yelling, cussing, etc) around 11. Needless to say, this ruined our night. We had an early flight and only could get about 4 hours of sleep. It would have been appreciated if we would have been informed of this and given the option to stay upon check in. We needed to sleep. I cant imagine anyone on the 6th floor was very happy last night. My texts were ignored for hours, I had to call twice to try to get an answer on when they would shut down. Just not a good experience. Rooms were ok, standard. Hair under mattress pad and a lot of dust/dirty in corners but nothing major. Beds were OK.
Every thing was nice until we settled in and realized they had construction going on. Drilling and banging throughout the day into the night. Morning comes around and I get a notice that fire drills will be going off from 8am-6pm the following day. I go down to breakfast and my party and I were being stalked by the restaurant staff, constantly badgered for vouchers-dishes- they brought us a check, even though its supposed to be free, I’m assuming for a tip? But… its a breakfast buffet, we weren’t being waited on at all just bothered to fill out the tip. I just wanted to eat & visit, and they made having breakfast a very uncomfortable experience, like we were a bother. So, traveling with older-very sensitive sleepers, I approached the staff and they couldn’t have cared less. Very dismissive and rude. It seems like common sense to have been notified at the time of check in of all the construction noise and fire alarm tests when I was checking in and I would have chosen a different hotel to accommodate my party.
We had a wonderful stay at Holiday Inn Mesa, Arizona. Check-in was incredibly friendly and calm, which meant so much to us. The kitchen manager, Raul, was truly delightful—so kind, attentive, and accommodating. The entire staff was warm and welcoming, and the rooms were very clean and comfortable. We’re here as a family to support our grandfather while he’s on hospice, and this hotel provided a sense of comfort, care, and ease during a very emotional time. We’re deeply grateful for such a warm, cozy, and genuinely kind place to stay.
I read many reviews before I arrived and was impressed with how comfortable everyone said the beds were. I am here to tell you That this was the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. I am typically a serious insomniac but I crashed immediately and slept Like a dream! The room was nice, nothing super fancy but very clean With a nice stepping shower e a motion sensor light in the bathroom and nice lighting from behind the bathroom mirror. I took some points from my rating because the cafe closed early for dinner on "slow nights" so not knowing this intending to eat late, I missed my chance for dinner two nights in a row. They had a little shop with snacks and drinks so I didn't go hungry but I would have preferred to try the cactus Cafe I think it is called. I was also giving contradictory information by the various staff members I spoke to about the timing of things. The buffet breakfast was very nicely presented aunt had a nice selection but not very hot neither was the bacon, though that last was very tasty. The man who seemed to be in charge of the breakfast was very helpful and friendly. All the staff were very nice and friendly, just something to have different information from the other about when things close and what days things were open and such. Unfortunately I did not have a chance to take a dip in the spa but the spa and pool looked lovely. The location is just off i-60 which was very helpful getting to and from places in the East valley. Unfortunately my room overlooked the low roof loaded with coolers and internet discs and wires and mechanical stuff so my view left a lot to be desired but if I live looked beyond that and looked beyond the i-60 just beyond that, I had a lovely view of the Superstition Mountains and that was beautiful. Everywhere I walked in the general area was clean and housekeeping always seemed to be bustling around working on things. There is an ATM near the lobby elevator and the display of brochures for entertainment purposes. There is also a bar open everyday but Sunday. I did not have time to visit it but I'm sure it was nice. I thought the pricing was reasonable and I would stay there again with specific requests about where my room would be located so I would have a better view. I do recommend this Holiday Inn.
Older building but the rooms are clean, kept up, they have great service. The breakfast in the morning is good and Raul the host in the morning is friendly and great to talk to. We stayed here seven days and looked forward to seeing him in the morning The motel in a good location for us and easy to navigate to a lot places from there.
We’ve stayed at this hotel a few times and it seems like every year it gets worse. The lobby SMELLS HORRIBLE. Whatever air freshener they use can be smelt from outside walking into the hotel. It was so overwhelming that we smelt like it getting into our car. The front desk put us in a handicapped room even though that was not requested. The shower was clogged really bad and barely flooded the bathroom until we stopped it. We asked to change rooms and that one was better. There is no air conditioning in the corridors so it’s miserable bringing your kids and luggage in the dead of summer. The elevator is run down and needs an update big time. This used to be a really nice hotel, with clean rooms and a nicer atmosphere that attracted nicer guests. It has gone downhill in the last couple of years. The only thing we like about this hotel is the pool. The pool is very big compared to other hotels and the space around the pool is nice and kept up. The maids and the service staff were really friendly and helpful. The location is great and off of the freeway and you can’t hear the noise.
This has to be one of the worst IHG properties that I stayed in. I've been a IHG Rewards member for 20yrs and can't recall a time when I wanted to check out 10 min after getting into my room. Granted I made the decision to check out an hour after arriving. Poorly lit hallways(wall scones do not provide adequate lighting sorry to say) Dirty pool and hot tub Front desk staff playing on her phone. Overall outside appearance of hotel was rundown. This place definitely needs a makeover. UPDATE Looked at my account and they took points and didn't refund them back even though I didn't stay there that long. This makes me question why I stay a customer with them any longer. Maybe I won't have the best experience at another hotel brand but its worth giving Hilton or Marriott a chance to win me over as a customer.
I will never book again at this hotel. The staff does not help or try to accommodate traveling guests. We had a baby shower to get to by 2. Stopped in to see if there was a room ready. Obviously, we knew it was before check-in, however, it's summer time and in Phoenix ?. Vanessa told it would be ready by 1:30-2 at the latest and they would give us a call. I provided her my ID and card. By 3:30, we had not been called. When I went to check on the room, I asked why I had not been called. Of course, a new person at the desk couldn't give me an answer. Again, she asked for my ID and card. I asked for the manager, Erika, she told me the type of room I booked didn't allow an early check-in. It would have been nice to know that at 1 when we were there the first time. Neither my wife nor myself were able to change and get ready for the party. This entire experience was some of the worst customer service at any Holiday Inn we've stayed at.
