La Quinta Inn & Suites Mesa East receives mixed reviews, with some guests praising the comfortable beds, friendly staff, and convenient location. However, recurring concerns include noise from the freeway, issues with room cleanliness and maintenance, and inconsistent breakfast quality. Recent reviews suggest some improvements have been made, particularly regarding breakfast options.
Had a very nice stay here, we were on the freeway side and there was noise but not bad ( I do sleep with earplugs). The bed, super comfy and overall the room was very nice. Breakfast was good, sausage hard boiled egg, waffles, oatmeal and just about everything you need to start your day. Overall I would stay here again!
Not a good experience for this long time member. First the drain in the tub was just sitting in the middle of the tub. It didn't fit or stay in the drain. Then the adjoining door to the other room is paper thin and you can hear the neighbors like they're in your room. We had extremely LOUD neighbors and I had specified a quiet room...not one with an adjoining door. When I called the gal at the front desk at 10:30 PM and conveyed this she said " yes, I think I know who you are talking about. I'll call them and tell them. Or do you want a different room." I said yes a new room. She then said ' I don't know if I have anything.' HUH? You just offered to move us!!! I said forget it and we had to turn the TV on loud to drown them out. Breakfast ... what a joke. The coffee was coffee colored water out of a machine! I actually saw clear water coming out. Sausage and hard boiled eggs. No hot food. Packets of oatmeal with nothing to put on it. Poor poor poor. Won't be staying here again on our many trips through the Phoenix area.
Stayed here at recommendation of my financial planner who was located next door. Room was decent. After reading reviews I was very hesitant on staying here and almost booked another hotel. I did not have any of the plumbing issues. I stayed on the second floor, king room. Yes the hall had an odor but I didn’t spend time in the hall. Don’t sleep well because every time the AC kicked on, I would wake up. Other than that it was okay. Based on past reviews I believe they have updated the breakfast as now there is hot breakfast options
From arrival to check-in, everything felt seamless the staff were sharp, friendly, and clearly knew what they were doing, so there was zero hassle. Breakfast was a standout: fresh, filling, and the perfect start before heading out for the day. The hotel’s on a quiet street too, which made a surprising difference we slept straight through without any outside noise. For the comfort, cleanliness, and service at this price, I’d happily book here again.
OMG, the noise!!!!!! Freeway is right behind the hotel so that is all you hear. ALL NIGHT!!!. Breakfast not all that great. And why do they put people with pets on an upper floor??? My dog hates elevators but they would not give us a first-floor room. Location is good except for the freeway noise.
I’ve stayed here before, maybe less than a year ago, but this experience was very different than the last. Must of been a busy weekend in town but apparently the whole hotel was booked but luckily I reserved a week in advance. The entire hotel and rooms looked tattered and worn out. There’s a musty odor through the entire building and the rooms are dark, beds small, and our room didn’t have a way to lock the bathroom. Shower water pressure was weak and couldn’t get hotter than lukewarm. At night you can hear the cars on the highway. Breakfast was just waffles and toast. I’ve been a longtime La Quinta stayer and had great experiences in different cities, but this one was not one of them. There are more hotels in the area that can offer better services and quality of stay. Would not book here again.
I booked La Quinta for what was supposed to be a two-night stay, but the experience was so poor that I could not stay beyond the first night. From the moment I walked into the room, I wanted to leave. The room was dark, musty, and had an overwhelming odor. One of the bedside lamps did not work, the couch armrest was visibly torn, blackened, and filthy, and the air-conditioning unit was yellowed, dirty, and extremely loud. The noise was so disruptive that I had to turn it off during the night. I immediately contacted the front desk and informed them that I would not be staying a second night. I was told I would only be charged for the time I stayed. I checked in around midnight on Monday, December 8th — just hours before my wedding. This hotel was not at all what I envisioned for my wedding night, and due to the late hour, I felt stuck. The room was so unclean that I did not feel comfortable putting my belongings down anywhere. When I attempted to shower, the situation worsened. The bathtub quickly began filling with water while the shower was running, even with the drain open. I did not feel safe stepping on the bathtub floor and had to wear shoes. The water continued to rise, forcing me to stand on the bathroom ledge to avoid standing in the filthy water. I was genuinely concerned for my safety, especially the night before my wedding. I assumed the water would drain overnight — it did not. There was also a slow drip from the faucet throughout the night. By morning, there was standing water behind and around the toilet. When I used the sink, the water backed up again, eventually draining but leaving debris stuck to the sink. The toilet also failed to flush properly. At this point, my hair and makeup artist arrived and urgently needed to use the bathroom. I had to send her across the hall to my cousin’s room because my bathroom was unusable. I notified the front desk of the plumbing issues, and maintenance was sent to the room. I was told I would need to switch rooms and was handed a new key, with assurance that the front desk would handle any necessary refunds. Towels were placed on the bathroom floor to manage the water, and I noticed the towels turned yellow, indicating how unsanitary the floor was. Once my hair and makeup were finished, I checked out and spoke with the manager. He took my information and later called to inform me that I would not be refunded because I “did not bring this to his attention the day prior,” despite the fact that I checked in at midnight and notified the front desk immediately. This was an extremely disappointing and stressful experience, especially given the timing before my wedding. The room conditions, plumbing failures, and lack of accountability from management made this one of the worst hotel stays I have ever experienced.
The staff was pleasant and helpful. The rooms were clean. In general the property is showing its age. If you just need a place to lay your head this is a good spot. It's not fancy but it is functional.
Be careful with modern SCAMMERS!! They tell you one price but endup taking a different amount from your bank because "They endup being sold-out " even tho I booked one night before, and they had already given me the price. I understand the $150 deposit even tho this is a 2? hotel, but the rate change without notice is just a scam!! The rooms look clean (Except for the bed sheets) but smells like a farm, and one tiny shampoo and no conditioner. Breakfast is just sausage, boil eggs, and pancakes, and there's no creamers, but the staff is friendly. La Quinta Inn in other states is great, I'm actually a Wyndham member but here is the worst I've stayed in. I recommend y'all check out WoodSprings in Mesa, it's cheaper, clean and smells great. I travel for business, and we usually hire more than 200 employees. I'm trying to find a place for them to stay as well so I'm taking all my new hires to WoodSpring instead of here next week.
Overall was a very nice stay. Rooms were clean, bed was comfy. Everyone at the front desk was wonderful, a light was out in my room and a really nice guy came and changed it immediately. Hot tub and pool area outside were nice, exercise room was just a treadmill, weights, and an elliptical that didn’t work, but it was at least something. Breakfast was the same thing every day (sausage and waffle maker), so for those staying for a week, that got kind of old, I wish they switched it up. Overall would stay again
